Who is behind Zara?
Have you ever visited a Zara store? Perhaps you have once, since it’s one of the most successful chains in fashion industry. Behind Zara is the ordinary-look man, Amancio Ortega. He is the richest man in Spain, only few people know his face though. Officially there are only two photographs of him and he almost never gives interviews. He is a multimillionaire, yet he doesn’t look like one-instead of suits and ties, he prefers wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
He used to be a shop assistant in a clothes store when he was young, but he always thought of having his own business. In 1963 he ran his first company that cut women’s pyjamas. In 1975, when he was 40, he started his first clothes shop in La CorunĚa, a quiet town in north-west Spain, and called it, Zara. Now you can find Zara shops in many countries around the world. So what is the key to its accomplishment?
The main reason is that Zara is always connected with the latest fashion designer, and produces fashionable clothes with reasonable price. Within three weeks Zara can create a new collection while other companies usually take about nine months. The clothes also change regularly every week, so customers keep coming back to see what’s new.
So if you are looking for a new clothe, you might want to visit Zara- there are about 2,000 news designs a year. Enjoy shopping, but be careful with your wallet.
