Today what I am going to describe for you is the Osaka. Do you know Osaka ? Osaka is the biggest city in Western Japan. Osaka Prefecture is located in the central part of the country and the Osaka Plain Spreads over the center of the city with a number of river, big and small, Flowing through it like blood vessels. These rivers enabled water transportation to flourish in the area, and falking adventage of the waterways, commerce in Osaka developed to a point where the city came to be called “the World’s kitchen’’ making it known as a water city and a town of merchant. Osaka Tenmangu Shrine would be a good first stop on your sightseeing tour in Osaka . As it is dedicated to SUGAWARA Michizane , known as a god of learning , the shrine gets crowded wits those studying for entrance examinations before exam season every year. It also plays host to the Plum Blossom Festival annually in February and march to celebrate Osaka’s representative flower, a time it also features an exhibition of plum tree bonsai (dwarfed plum trees) Another famous event is the Tenjin Festival held on July 24 and 25 every year. This is one of three great festivals in Japan. During the festival, People in various costumes carrying portable shrines walk through the town, which is lined with stall. Turning left out of Osaka Tenmagu Shrine, you come to Tenjinbashi-Suji shopping Arcade. It is said to be longest shopping arcade in Japan, extending 2.6 kilometers. With a total of 600 shops , the arcade is a great place for shopping and eating out. You can find more information at http://www.osaka-info.jp/th/
